Steven Woodward

With a recruitment career to date that has been spent supporting large and successful recruitment agencies continued growth in managerial and leadership positions, coupled with time spent and lessons learnt at a Defence prime in an internal recruitment capacity. Steven has made the decision to embark on a journey of self-employment in 2024 at Bastion Group where he can focus his time and energy on the parts of his profession he enjoys most – understanding his clients and candidates needs, matching and aligning talent to roles and building communities in Defence Industry.

Steven’s career in recruitment started in 2007 and he quickly found his niche as a Defence Industry Recruiter which has seen him recruit across all states of Australia, providing both permanent and contract recruitment services in the Security Cleared Engineering and PMO space. In 2010, Kinexus relocated Steven from Sydney to Adelaide where he became responsible for all Defence Industry recruitment in South Australia and Western Australia for them.

Shortly after joining Talent2 in 2013, Allegis Group – the largest privately held recruitment organisation in the world acquired Talent2 and entered the Australian marketplace. Subsequently, Steven became the State Manager of the Adelaide office and was responsible for leading recruitment teams that covered ICT, Banking & Finance and Engineering across South Australia.

In 2016 Steven was offered the opportunity to return to Kinexus and relocated to Melbourne to take up the role of Regional Manager for Victoria and Western Australia. In this role he successfully led and grew the Melbourne office to efficiently service all major projects, across permanent and contract solutions. He also Project Managed three significant RPO delivery contracts with major Defence contractors to support significant growth required on key Defence programs.

Steven joined Randstad Australia in 2021 as a Defence Capture Manager to support the introduction and growth of a recently formed business division focused on Defence Industry.

In 2022 Steven joined Rheinmetall Defence Australia as a Senior Talent Acquisition Business Partner. In this role he was responsible for the attraction and selection of RDA’s recruitment requirements across VIC and SA which saw him support programs such as LAND 121, LAND 400 Phase 2, LAND 400 Phase 3 and MASS.

Prior to entering Recruitment, Steven was a Sailor in the Royal Australian Navy for four years and was involved in several deployments which included Operation Relex II and Operation Catalyst in the Persian Gulf.
